Taken this morning on the way to work during a freak dust storm that went right up the coast of the east side of Australia.
It is also the first photo taken with my new 70-200mm
Works like a charm.
Just finished this Poster for next weeks DE Talks, should come along…
Professor Peter Botsman will introduce us to an urgent issue: companies that are selling utterly useless websites to Indigenous communities, misleading and scamming aspiring business people. Peter will engage us with a discussion of solutions to stopping the scam.
Peter and Rob Chewying, a sucessful social entrepreneur, will also introduce us to the Indigenous Stock Exchange (ISX) , a free market for listing Indigenous business ideas, products, investment opportunities and people.
RSVP by September 15 is essential as the evening is catered.
Forward this invitation to your friends
Peter Botsman is a groundbreaking academic, public policy leader, and a core member of the Indigenous Stock Exchange (ISX).
Rob Chewying is an entrepreneur who began Chewying’s Lawn and Horticulture, a successful for profit social business providing lawn and horticulture services in the Shoalhaven region, with the help of the ISX. Rob will explain the role of the ISX in developing his business, and the useful technologies helping to make it happen.
Digital Eskimo is hosting a series of free talks by passionate individuals who are realising sustainable ideas through their work. It’s an opportunity to learn something, strengthen your community connections, and enjoy some entertaining discussion!

This was a great university assignment, where the brief was to express the passion and the tragedy of the opera “Madame Butterfly” but without using the obvious; characters, scenes and places that give it away. Focusing on the emotions made it more intriguing. I approached this poster in a similar way to the green peace poster, ‘Keep It Simple, Stupid’.
I sketched up a series of thumbnails of different ideas; I kept the butterfly(s) in all of them. I came to the conclusion that use a dead butterfly like the ones used for studying. Because there is a sense of tragedy and passion in something so small delicate and beautiful, being kept nailed to a board.
There was one problem; I didn’t know of anywhere in Wagga Wagga that would have this sort of thing and I prefer to use my own photos in my designs. So I did a road trip to a butterfly gallery in Sydney and got the shots I wanted.
I used a combination of my photograph, typography and composited blood to come up with the final execution. The rationale behind including the blood was to be more emotive and tie back into the story a hint at the tragic ending.
An oldie, but I thought I would start documenting all the projects I’ve worked on (either in a team or solo) that I like.
The story behind this illustration titled “Creative Burst” was the end product of a severe creative block I had when I stayed back in Wagga one summer university holiday. I had this feeling that there was a bomb ready to explode in my head, so I decided that is what I would illustrate that.
One night I was about to brush my teeth and go to bed, and I saw this moth in the bathroom. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to grab a few photos using my 50mm 1.8 with an extension tube. (The tube allowed me to get even closer with a different focal range)

Some photos taken from the office (Digital Eskimo) on Friday 7th August, an amazing sunset.
A photo I took a while ago, on a shoot with Kara… I was assisting but I really like this shot. Ed was concentrating on Kara taking photos. How I got it, well Kara had the flash units synced to her camera and I set my shutter to bulb and “borrowed” some of light when the flashes went off.
Finally finished coding my site (I think). Now for the content…
